You are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector, the rock where I am safe,
my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter.‬‬

Psalms‬ ‭18‬‬:‭2‬ ‭CEV

In the month of August, there were few events to share, but one topic really stood out. Using our testimony to share with others and guide them to the truths in the Bible. Probably one of the biggest topics is “relationship,” having a connection with God and with others. This actual word may not be found in the Bible, but it is referenced in many ways throughout the Bible.

What a way God moved in 2004-2005 to make sure Keith and Sharon Doster became host parents to the international Deaf students studying at Mount Aloysius! One of the students they hosted was me, Alberto, and I hold many fond memories of those stays at the Doster house. At the same time, God opened a friendship between Reneé and me while we studied in our respective programs at MAC. Later, after returning to Mexico, with my newfound faith and testimony of God’s salvation felt the desire to share the Gospel with Deaf Mexicans.

Eventually, in 2008, after a time of friendship and dating, I proposed to Reneé. In 2012, Grace Deaf Missions was created by Keith and me in order to share the gospel with the Deaf in Mexico. In December 2015, Reneé and I married and were richly blessed by Keith being our “pastor/officiant,” plus Sharon ever so graciously interpreting.

It is because of the amazing marriage testimony of Keith and Sharon that Reneé and I are inspired to also be examples to lead many Deaf couples in their journey, praying for them, and showing God’s word to them. One of these couples is Ruben and Frida. They are newlyweds, just beginning their journey as a married couple. They are both Christians and want to lead a good, fruitful life together for the Lord. They have experienced some hardships and trials, but they ask that we continue to uplift them in prayer!

Ruben is a former student of the Deaf school, probably one of the very first students. It has been great to watch him grow up into the Christian young man he is today and see how he wants to be a great leader in his own household. Pray for Frida that she and Ruben have many blessed years together! The Alcantar family and Ruben and Frida attend a local church in León, with hopes of inviting many more Deaf people to the special Sign language service.

Thank you for your prayers, considerations, and donations to such a blessed ministry!
