Below is an update on the ministry to the deaf people in various cities in central Mexico.

León: The Christian deaf community of León, for the most part, amazingly loves God, but unfortunately, some have decided to withdraw. This is because a deaf person has stirred up trouble among them to separate them, and has already succeeded with one of the brothers named Óscar. The other brothers are advancing in their knowledge of Jesus Christ: Marco, Jazz, Érik, Coco, and Víctor; they have decided to be servants of Christ and be at His service. I have begun working with them so that they will make decisions based on the Holy Spirit. I hope that this year we will have the first graduates of missionaries. We are working a lot with the deaf married couples of this city, as they have had many problems among themselves. The great news is that the Támez Hernández family returned to the fold and are hungry to learn about Christ. It was fantastic to know and see that this family has returned.

Prayer requests for the people in León:

  • For the brothers who have left: Alan, Óscar, Mary, and Sofía, that the Spirit of God will bring them back to the fold. We have seen how God has worked miracles among them.
  • For the upcoming marriage discussions that will provide an opportunity to teach deaf couples.
  • For the evangelism and discipleship activities we carry out during the week and our prayer meetings.
  • For the prayer meeting for enemies. This meeting has been quite difficult because resentments that we have kept hidden resurface, things we didn’t know were there or we tried to hide. God has made me realize that there are some things that the leaders if they wish to advance in their knowledge of Christ, need to let go of, and among those things is resentment against someone. Every time we meet, we pray for the enemies of the deaf missions and for the people within us towards whom there is still anger. It has been very enriching because we have achieved healing in some areas, and we have seen the hand of God in our lives, but there are still things to heal.

Dolores Hidalgo: Marco Trejo and his wife Jazzkara visited the deaf people of this city. This is a special case because the deaf people, Cecy, Adán, and Fernanda, have not wanted to be baptized, but they do want to continue learning about Christ. We have been working with them for 3 years, and we will continue to visit them to keep teaching them.

Prayer requests for the people in Dolores Hidalgo:

  • For Cecy and Adán: they are married and last year had a child, and that child caused problems between their two families. The conflict has decreased, but not resolved.
  • For Cecy and Adán’s decision to be baptized.

Querétaro: Marco, Jazz, Coco, Christian, and I visited Romeo and his wife Mary because their marriage was on the verge of falling apart. Marco and I have been closely following up with Romeo, and Jazz and Coco with Mary. They decided to separate; each staying with their family, but they did not divorce. God, through Marco, convinced Romeo not to divorce, so now each is with their relatives. Despite his whole situation, Romeo understands that without God, everything will go very badly for him, and he understands that God is the only one who can restore that marriage. This month, Marco, Jazz, and Coco met a new deaf guy named Brandon. Marco shared the gospel with him, and he believed. Brandon is a deaf acquaintance of Coco. God has opened doors in Querétaro, and that is fantastic.

Prayer requests for the people in Querétaro:

  • For the marriage of Romeo and Mary, that it may be restored.
  • For Brandon, that he may continue to know Christ.
  • For Alejandro, who is a young deaf Christian, a friend of Coco, who wants to join our deaf mission in Guanajuato.
  • That the gospel may reach more deaf people in this beautiful state.

Salvatierra and Tarimoro: In these beautiful cities, things have happened that one did not expect. The leader of the deaf is named Juan, and his wife is named Alejandra. They are very Catholic, but when I suggested to Juan that I visit and share the gospel with him, I thought he would say no. But to my surprise, he said yes, and I went, shared the gospel, and they both believed. Juan later told me that he wanted me to share with all his deaf people, and I said yes. Two weeks later, Marco and I shared with 7 deaf people, and all 7 believed. In total, 9 deaf people from Salvatierra believed the gospel, and every two weeks that we have visited them, it’s always about the gospel. Why do we continue with the gospel? One of the characteristics of the deaf is that they understand and believe at the moment, but then they revert to relying on works. This happened to Marco and Jazz; it took about 6 months for them to understand the gospel very well. This has happened with all the deaf people who have come to our church; they understand at the moment, but then they forget, so we always evangelize them again for several months until it is ingrained in them. In March, the deaf people of Salvatierra will be baptized. So far, we have 3 deaf people confirmed.

Prayer requests for the people in Salvatierra and Tarimoro:

  • For the 9 deaf people: Juan, Alejandra, María, Amalia (Tarimoro), Salvador, Violeta (Tarimoro), Emmanuel, Viridiana, and Mary. We thought they would not respond to the gospel, but God proved us wrong. God is great!

General prayer requests:

  • For the GDM workers, the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. That their faith does not waver despite the negative circumstances, as these young people have received persecution. Please pray that the Lord will allow me to serve Him much more than I do now, to make disciples.
